I have a F 1993 150 5.0 with 38s and 4.57 gears. My clutch is going out and I am thinking about a centerforce clutch but I really don't know which one or if their is a better idea. I do a lot of four wheeling but I still drive the truck to work any ideas or help?
I just finished rebuilding my '76 F-150 and I put a centerforce 1 in it. My motor is a rebuilt 390 with ported heads, monster cam, MSD ignition ect... I love the clutch. The pedal is now easier to push in put it grabs a lot more. It spins my 35s on the street no problem. I was thinking about a centerforce 2, but I have heard that the pedal pressure is too much for a daily driver.
I've run a Dual-Friction in my '91 for the last 50,000 miles, mostly stop'n'go city traffic. I haven't noticed any stiffer a pedal over the stock clutch.
The Centerforce is a flawless piece, firm, positive, takeup with good feel and progressive action. I wouldn't buy a Dual-Friction again for a daily driver because of the difficulty in service (the unit is hand-matched, and to replace the disc you have to send the whole mess back to C-F, but that's true for any of the top-of-the-line units from other manufacturers too).
Instead, I'd go with the mid-grade unit they sell.
If you're putting this on a 300, upgrade to an 11" unit; the flywheel is drilled and tapped with both 10 and 11 bolt circles, just watch out--the 10" circle uses 5/16 coarse thread, the 11" uses Ch*vy-size 3/8" coarse thread.
