I think the easiest way is to use an enclosed air filter (something along the lines of the stock unit), since this already has the projection coming out of it. Then just hook up some of that flexible hosing to it...I've seen it done anywhere from zip ties to duct tape. It think I'd use duct tape AND zip ties If you can work sheet metal I'd be tempted to make something trick that way, but you'd still end up using that flexible hosing. I don't run a snorkel, but do use an oiled pre-cleaner. That with the K&N does a fine job of keeping the water out.
Or there's always the redneck dryer hose trick. I was having a lot of trouble with water and mud getting into my intake so I'm trying a new cowl induction setup. But if I were to do it again I'd be tempted to build a shroud that goes straight into the firewall and sucks air through the cab so it will never take in water . . . unless of course you're under water . . . in which case you're screwed anyway.
Just seeing if you're still paying attention . . . plus it's still useful info . . . plus I'm strung out again for the shoulder. AND I got my old POS computer to work at work . . . woohoo!
And for those of you who actually care about this post or it's question try this link it is a cool way to hook one up. http://www.ramairbox.com/home_page.html
yea I was thinking the same thing, or they have one that has a rectangular opening point it straight back, make a sheet metal opening in the firewall, and enclose the two with rubber.
Yeah you candyassmofo! That's like a thieven' killin' hater getting kicked out of the hood!!! I can't believe it.
That snorkle write up is pretty cool! The one cool thing about going that way is you could drive with water up to your neck and not choke out. I've always wanted to be able to do that . . . replace my tail gate with a Pro-Runner net and see if I catch any fish when I come out of the water.
I think that ram air box would be better suited to a pair of turbos. Then, from the turbos you can just run your PVC intake pipe where ever you like! Even inside the cab. If you like the windows sucking in when you romp on it, that is!
