Brake booster bracket 1978-79

My 1979 F150 4x4 brake booster bracket front ( side that the booster bolts to) is angled back toward the fire wall slighty, causing the master cylinder to sit with the front raised and the rear sloping toward the fire wall. Since my master cylinder cap is leaking I am going to replace the bracket to the whole unit so it sits level off the fire wall. At the yard I found two 1978 4x4 Broncos with brackets that look different from my 1979 brackets, they do allow the booster and MC to sit level, the spacing form the fire wall is the same as my 1979 bracket however it looks different and the booster has the number 12303 on face toward he bottom. I also found a 1979 F150 4x4 with a bracket like my 1979 with the angle and the booster number was 12305. My 1979 4x4 has a booster number 12303 same as the Broncos. can I use the Bronco bracket to level the booster and MC ? Is there a difference in the 78 Bronco and 79 F150 units ? Should I be careful and look out for anything ?

Why dont you just replace the cap and call it good? Its been working like that for 30 years so why change it? And if you are gonna go through all that work might as well upgrade to a F-350 booster or better yet a hydroboost.

Just a FYI

I spent the afternoon in the yard checking out ford pickups. Found out the 1978 and 1979 ( pickup and Bronco) have one of two brake booster brackets. The 1978 pickups and broncos have one piece booster bracket with a swivel/hinge piece in the middle toward the bottom end of the bracket. The plunger from the booster goes through the firewall and bolts to the brake pedal pretty high up on the brake pedal, up under the dash. In the lmc catolog brake booster # 3 fits this bracket.

The 1979 pickup and broncos have a two piece booster bracket with a slight angle toward the firewall, there is not a swivel/henge part the bracket, the brake booster rod goes straight through the fire wall, the rod is a little longer than the 78 model, this plunger rod bolt to the lower end of the brake pedal, you can see it when looking at the rubber foot pad on the brake pedel just a few inches up the pedal. lmc booster # 4. The 1978 booster has the number on the face at the bottom that reads 12305. The 1979 bosster number reads 12303. So they are different and probablly not interchangeable.

However, the good nes is I fixed my leaking master cylinder. I took two MC caps and rubber cap gaskets from the yard, cost $5, cleaned them up, the first one I tried does not leak. The gasket is a little longer in length and had little rubber groves around the edge of the gasket about 4 groves, they seem to seal much better then the flat gasket made in china that cost $7.99 which I returned, so a new old cap and gasket, original does the job, what do you know original ford stuff , 29 years old still does the job.

If y'all think you're confused, try looking up and typing all this scheiss from two different parts catalogs.

F150 parts are in the truck parts catalog, Bronco parts are in the car parts catalog (thru 1979).
