tried welding my axle tube in my housing last night, but the weld did not take on the diff housing.
So I am going to have to make a truss and weld it on as well. I have seen nurmous pictures of welded truss systems but no one seems to know much about them.
I would like any one who has info on welding a diff housing to step forawrd and take the challenge of givin a bro a hand!
I'm not sure if this will help you or not.Last summer I tried to weld a dual shock mount on the axle housing on the rear of a VW powered off road car and could not make it stick.Someone told me that because the two different types of metal my wire welder would not work unless I heated the cast iron with a torch and them welded the mounts on.I used a mapp gas torch in one hand and the wire feed in the other and it has held up so far.
Look into getting soem cast iron welding rods. These will do a better job.
