WOW! This is a great forum! I just spent two hours reading page after page of great builds not to mention great info and now some new ideas! Anyway, I have kind of a cool story. When i was 16 (in '87) my dad bought me my first vehicle: White 1968 F-100. swb, 240 six with a three on the tree, and factory a/c. Being a dumb kid over the next two years, i abused then wrecked my truck and traded to my brother for a '72 Camaro. It has gone threw a few other hands since then. My brother calls me about two weeks ago and says, "guess what i found? you want your old truck back?" Well after 19 years, i bought my truck back on Saturday! Can't wait to start working on her again!
Yea, I won't ever let it get away again. The hard thing is deciding on how i'm gonna restore it. If it would have still been original, i may have kept it that way. One of the previous owners put a 460 auto in it, and removed the a/c. It now has a '93 Mustang GT engine with a 600 Edelbrock carb on it, and an FMX tranny. They left the original column and clutch pedals in it, so i'm thinking about going with a 5 speed. Probably put a nice aftermarket steering column in it. As all of ya'll know, the list is neverending!
thanks for all the "welcomes". it will probably be a while before i really start tearing into my 68, but when i do i'm going to try and document every little thing i do and i'm sure i will have a few hundred questions when i do! i hate that i didn't document things on previous projects before. the last real project i did was about 15 years ago before digital cameras were affordable and who had a personal computer?! my brother has some advice but he is really "old school". i like some things restored to original, but i think this truck will be more of a resto mod. i like for the body to be original, depending on the vehicle, no shaved door handles, no cadillac taillights, no chop top, etc. i'm thinking, cool paint job, custom interior, then.........................air bags all around with four link in the back, slight mini tub, 17"x8"s front 17"x11" rear black baby moons, with a seriously potent supercharged 5.4 (out of my 04) with a 6-speed manual tranny. i guess that would do for starters! LOL!
