[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Jan-02 AT 10:05 PM (EST)]When the 4x4 is engaged, are both front wheels pulling?
Also, the SD's with the Electric Shift on the fly have the manual locking hubs I guess for a back-up system. My question is, if the ESOF goes out and you have to use the manual locking hubs, does this automatically put the truck in 4 low or 4 high?
Since you have a limited slip all 4 of your tires should spin equal in 4x4. If you are doing some serious off roading your stock limited slip might not lock up all the way. That is what lockers and aftermarket limited slips are for. For most people the stock setup is just fine. When you talk about the Shift on the fly do you mean what if you autohubs went out and you used the manual backups? Im not very familiar with this setup but what it sounds like when the backup manual hubs are used the front drive shaft will be rotating with the axle. But its not really in 4x4 untill you shift it into 4x4 with the transfer case.
Way to worm your way out of that one abendx. Sorry if I confused you. I was just getting several different answers to my question so decided to post it in different places to see if I could get a correct one.
if you have a shift on the fly with manual locking hubs. what that means is the transfer case is synchronized so if you have the hubs locked and you are off-road you don't have to stop the vehicle to shift into 4 wheel drive it is not a back-up to engaging 4 wheel drive if something fails. But as for shift on the fly DON'T shift into 4 wheel low while moving
