Some Dana Questions
I have an '89 F-250 HD with 460, C6, 4.10:1 10.25", and BW13-56 transfer case. GWVR is 8600. I wanted to give all the info in case it helps. I was wondering what front axle I had. It is TTB. I would assume the Dana 44HD or 50, but I just don't know. Also, what are the differences between the 44, 44HD, and the 50? How big a tire can I run on each? Is it true that the monobeam Dana 60 is a direct bolt on if I can get one from an F-350?

I would guess that it is probably a 60 but thats just because i've seen a lot of 60's up front stock on F-250's at least early 80's and late 70's models. as for tires if its a 60 you can put at big tires if you want, hope i helped some

Your F-250's front axle should be a Dana 50.The F-350's Dana 60 Monobeam front axle can be swapped in,but I'm not sure if it's a bolt in swap.Many F-250/F-150/Bronco owners have done this swap,so there must be a few companies that offer kits to put the straight axle in other Fords.A lot of early '80's F-250s did use the Dana 44 front axle,but in the mid-'80s they switched to the 50 unit.

If your truck is a Heavy Duty you for sure have a Dana 50. If you crawl under your axle and look at the pumpkin it should say D50 on it.
