does anyone know where to get a template though. I want to buy some, but I also want to make sure that I have a template to go by. I don't want to be drilling holes in the roof if im not sure that they are in the right place.

Here ya go, from the site most everyone uses, Motoman's site: Motoman's Madness
"Next came the very important part... measuring! Just trying to find center on the weird shaped roof was a challenge. Once the center was determined we used the following measurements:
All lights 5.5" from windshield rubber to center of plug hole of light. (7/8" hole)
The lights on either side of center are 8" to hole center
Vince made a template out of nylon so we could set the holes in the proper location. We used a center punch to indent for drilling. The tape was used to reduce the flaking of the paint during the drilling process."

Finding the center is easy, take a 4 foot carpenters level, lay it up and down on the windsheild, and line up the mirror mount with the center point in the wiper valance. take a measurement form both sides of the windshaild to the level and adjust till they are the same.
worked for me, pics in gallery.
the harness plugs in down behind the pax lower kickpanel, in fron of the door
I went with the JC whitney lights, and made my own harness. 2 wires, 1 red, 1 black, some blade connectors, and two scotch lock connectors to the running light wires. I also used self tapping metal srews to secure my lights to the roof. I only had to drill 5, 1/2 inch holes. 2 hour job, (about a six pack) now that I've done it once.
i just looked on jc whitney and couldent find em am i an idiot or what i do want the oem look though orange and just like factory ones. and bout that kick pannel and pluggin em in pass side kick? what to look for? where to splice into or do i need a plug? and.... if i want the harness where do i find one..

the little pic on the left shows what the Super Duty lights look like. Look at my thread about my truck getting a bath today and you can see them installed.
the running light wires are brown(+) and black(-), they are located in front of the pax door behind the plastic kick panel. tap into the brown wire and run about an 8 foot length of red wire, and then do the same with a black wire tapped into a ground. reomve your A pillar cap, and your visors, and your mirror, remove the large pushpins that hold the headliner in and drop it down some. snke the wires from the kick panel up through the A piller and then lay them in the headliner. Measure drill and mount your lights, and then just tap the red to red, and the black to black, test, replace all disassembled parts, and your done. the hardest part of this job is just getting started. JUST DO IT.

Thats the site I followed. The lights turned out great. I picked up all my parts from the local ford dealer. Take your time and triple check your measurements!!!! I goofed a few times. Lay the lights on the marks you're gonna drill and stand about 20ft back to make sure it looks good.
Here's a shot of the connector you hook into in the kickpanel.
