Need help quick, push button ignition + switch
The city came in and gave me a lot of crap for my truck.. "If it's not running, you have to get rid of it. Oh, you're working on it? In that case! sorry, you need to be zoned to do any kind of work on vehicles whatsoever.. have the truck running in a week or we're towing it"
I'm in the middle of a lot of big jobs that are going to need some jury rigging.. I just need it running for a day or two, quick startup and to be able to move it to show him it runs.
What's the quickest/easiest way to wire my ignition to run off of two switches? I need one for acc/run and a push button for start. I had it wired with a push button for start, but I forgot how I did it. Normally I'd research and find out myself, I know there are wiring diagrams on this site.. but I don't have time, so I'm asking you all for this favor.
I have to juggle a job, school and getting a lot of big jobs finished on this truck.. plus I have to sell my boat and get my van running.
I'm also a bit out of practice, I had sat the truck aside for the time being because my life got so busy so quickly.
Anyways, I'd be soooo appreciative if someone could just tell me which wires to run to the rocker switch, which to the push button

just so everyone knows.. the exhaust is completely off the truck and I don't know how to weld (not going to be easy to get done), my headers are 4 days from being delivered which wont give me enough time to finish it up, so I gotta put on my old rusty manifolds and rusty turnpipes, I had just bought and put on a new intake that I've not tested, so I might have to redo that. time it, do the ignition, bolt my suspension back on, put my bed back on, tune the carb for this new intake, all fuel lines/electrical from the back of the cab to the rear bumper.. my brakes are half finished but I know I have good rear brakes, but I still have to bleed them, re bolt on my brake booster, do an oil change (truck has been sitting for a while) and at least fill my rear-end with oil.
On my van I have to change the starter and put my fuel tank back in.
all while doing 5 classes at school and a 20hr a week job.
if my neighbors want to complain, fine. The truck was sitting behind my house next to my garage, when I get it running I'm parking it 2'' inside of the road in my driveway, longways so the whole damn neighborhood can see it. I might also fill my bed with junk just to **** them off
edit:
Oh, 78 f150 with a 400. Because it's relevant, I have a DUI distributor.
As for your problem - the ignition switch simply passes hot-at-all times to hot-in-run and hot-in-start, as you know. Your switches will need to take over that job. It's just a matter of what color does what. I don't have that in front of me, but a search through Autozone's website or a Haynes\Chilton's will tell you the colors.
Of course, it's not an eyesore to me.. my truck is a beautiful thing! but I can see my neighbors getting pissed. Still, I live in bumfu..dge indiana, being able to have my old pickup in my back yard so I can work on it is one of the reasons I live here.
Hell, I'm even on a deadend street, there is a huge farm/garden on one side, one more house and the end of the road.
Boat that doesn't run (but looks like it does), minivan that broke down again recently and my truck.. plus I'm watching my mother's dogs who keep breaking out of the yard, one neighbor was pissed about the dogs and complained about everything else.. I actually have to go to court over the damn dogs, even after this my mother still wont do anythin about them, bleh.
Not been a fun week.
I'm definitely parking it in front of my hosue when I get it fixed though.. he drives his loud Dodge truck by my house every morning at 5am to go to work and makes sure he floors it down the road (My 1500 is fast because I put a flowmaster on it!), can't wait until I need to use his driveway at 2AM to turn around with my clean, built 400 with straight-through dual exhaust that makes the 360 sound like an old man coughing.
