My Dad is using my 99 Dually towing my 40ft enclosed trailer...he's cruising about 65 and he said when the turn on the headlight switch to flash a trucker he was clear the truck acts like its shutting down....ANY IDEAS??...HELP !!!!
IF the healights initiated the problem I would suspect the alternator or batteries. These engines have quite a bit of electronics and need at least 10.5 V to fire the IDM
I was kinda leaning that way....Im going to have him unplug the trailer to see if the battery in the trailer went bad and is pulling it down....I made the mistake of putting a 50 amp fuse instead of a 30 in the dist. block before he left.
One bad battery can drag the whole system down. If he sees a Walmart along the way they carry the batteries for our trucks and on Sunday probably is one of the few places open.

the battery on the trailer is just for the back up brakes right?? just un hook that from the truck..it should have pleny of juice to run them..that way dad still has lights...
The trailer battery is for the 4000lb Superwinch and Hydraulic landing gear.....he just called....wiring loom is melted from the trailer plug forward...GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!.......I've never had any bad luck with vehicles...and in 2 weeks he's blown the tranny in his motorhome...broke the rear end in his race car....broke it again this weekend and has now melted my wiring harness...time for him to find his own stuff to mess up !
