I have seen it asked a few times how to get the turbo in or out so I took a couple pics tonight. The pic of it sitting on the pedestal didnt fit in the thread.Loosen off the pipe clamps before trying to remove the turbo and tighten the clamps before you tighten the bolts on the pedestal and exhaust or prepare to swear. Hope someone finds these pics usefull.
Seriously... huge thank you brickie. I got it out but just couldn't remember how. I have struggled for about an hour trying to get it back in. The remaining skin on my knuckles and my lower back also thank you.
I fought it the first time I did it. I was dreading this time. I got it in pretty close and was getting ready to fight the inlet tube when I tried old faithful. I actually just kicked it and it dropped in place perfectly. It lined up with both pipes and everything tightened up like a charm. Sometimes you just get lucky!
DISCLAIMER: This isn't advise on how to do this just sharing a lucky shot.
Would it be possible to cut and remove the body part that's over the turbo? Cut it and refit it somehow.
Hummm... the turbo would be easy to remove.
I think you just pissed off the 2 wrong people on here that may help you at some point down the road...lets hope they don't give you hack advice when you need it most....just sayin

I was just saying what I was thinking when I was working and cursing on my turbo. I guess Ford could have made this part removable
I do not think people would get **** off just because of a thought. I have got excellent advices from cheezit and M-chan and hope they will continue to help when needed.
I replaced two turbo's this year. One on each of our work trucks at work. I found no matter how I removed and replaced the turbo I was swearing. Only took 4 hours to remove and reinstall each turbo though. One thing I learned the first time was to make sure the exhaust clamps go back on the exact same way you take them off. I thought I would switch one around because it was easier to put back on and it didn't work right till I switched it around.

No Worries Nobodys Mad LOL
To be Honest we would be on the ground Rolling if you took a Torch or Cutting wheel to your truck to get the Turbo OUT
I Know you WONT But
Beleive it or Not you wouldnt be the first on to take a Cutting Wheel to the truck to get a Part OUT
I would not cut through the grill for sure, but temptation is there .
I once cut a hole through the trunk of an old Pontiac to get to the fuel pump, it was much easier than to take the old rusty tank out.. Sometimes weird idea just brings up another point of view.
I just used some RTV and reglued the thing, mind you it was hidden.
