Front Bench Swaps

Well I hope I did not miss a thread for this already as I hate to do a repost but I would like to see what other members have put into their trucks as far as newer seats.

Pictures plus a little how to of how they installed would be great. Would help visually in my search along with I am sure many others tossing around this idea.

I did search around and found alot of info on which years are direct bolt in and which ones are not but it always helps to see a pic of a seat in the truck.

Thanks!
Mike

Mike, Direct bolt up to the floor 65 to 79, seats fitted to the floor mounts 80 to 96.

While using existing floor mounts about anything can be adapted and used.

Please note if you have arm rests you may not be able to flip the back without opening both doors. I have a 76 seat in my truck and the doors have to be open.

I have a seat out of a 92 f-150, I had to change the seat trachs and cut off the lever that locks the seat in place, because it hit my gas tank, other than that it was one of the best upgrades i did. It has the center arm rest and is very comfy.

Installed 86 Lariat bench in 65 F100. Although mounts and tracs lined up the seat sat too low for there to be any adjustment, I think because the 65 has the T-18 tranny with the high transmission tunnel. I believe the 65 thru 72 have the same trac's, perhaps more knowledgeable member would know. The bench seat is wider from 67, or 68 thru at least 96; therefore, any back section of a bench seat should fit the bottom section of a bench seat from 67 on. Long story short, basically lazy so took bottom bench from 69, which has same trac's as 65 but wider, and installed back section of the Lariat onto the 69 bench. Removed the padding from 69 bench and place the contoured padding from Lariat bench into the 69 bottom frame for the uphostery shop to use as a template. Happened to come across both bench seats while salvage shopping in a 'pic n pull' did the swapping inside and only charged for the one bench. If recall, members mentioned they removed the tracs from original bench and welded them to the donor. Anyhow, like I said, no refab necessary, obviously if looking to install bucket seats, console, etc, the project will be more involved, a few FTE members have posted pic's of the interior of their ride that one would find in a truck magazine. Link below is from Classic Truck mag. Have pic's in gallery, unfortunately, did not take with center arm rest with coffee holder down. Anyhow, can see basic upgrade to full blown retro.
