up pipe gasket question

up pipe gasket question

I just took off my turbo and ped to replace the orings and noticed i needed to replace the up pipe doughnuts. i went with the small block chevy ones.

my question is since these gaskets are bigger than stock do i need to keep wrenching down till i cant see the gasket any more??

Also i went to reinstall the upipe v clamp and that is a son of a... to get back on with out seeing it. you guys have any tips??

this is on a 00 7.3 auto.

yeah they are a pain in the anus for sure.. Just gotta line up the babies butt and you'll feel it go into place and be ready to get your clamp on it and tighten down.. I fought mine for a hr last time

you need to ani sieze the crap out them chevy donuts so they can slip and slide into the flange to be able to seal tight...also the chevy donut sould be the very soft kind like the autocraft brand...

If you have the EBPV still, HOOK THAT UP FIRST!!! I had my turbo all the way hooked back up, getting ready to tighten IC boots, and saw that damned thing hanging.

so i should still torque the uppipe clamps all the way down to sqwash the gasket? and thanks again for the ebpv advise, i already got the turbo on and forgot to hook it up but better late than never!

leave the bottom bolts loose..not to loose..just enouph so that you can wiggle the pipe...then tighten the top till they dont move...if you really need to crank on them that hard..then stop befor you break a bolt in there... why did you get the chevy donuts???

because i heard they are an alternative istead of going to the dealer, plus i had some laying around so it made it that more conveinent(spelling def. wrong)
