Alright i sold my 1978 truck now and have my 1979 bronco with 7 inches of lift and trimmed fenders. The beast can hold 44's and the 460 can handle im sure but i dont want to go that big cause it will rub offroad on the rocks. It holds 38's now but they look small. They are also to skinny. I would like to get some that are 14 inches or wider. I would love the 39.5x18x15 boggers but not sure where to buy them. On it now are bald TSL's but i read somewhere that TSL's arent all that good. Now im not downing them cause i didnt use them. I have only used gumbo mudders and like those. I either would like gumbos or boggers unless TSL's are actually good. If anyone knows the cheapest place to get these tires, and i need them wide, also which do you think the best would be, and i need to ship them to North Carolina so that will also come into play. Any help would be awesome. thanks
joseph
OK, here's my $.02
I've run TSL's and I think they are the perfect "all terrain" tire. They work well on anything, especially mud and rocks. They don't wear too bad if you keep the air pressure correct and rotate them (my set has roughly 20-25k mi on them and still has 3/8" tread depth left), and they are reasonably priced.
The Boggers are expensive and wear poorly but man oh man do they tear it up in the mud! My brother has 39.5" boggers on his Jeep and they tear through just darn near anything. W/ somewhere between 5-10k mi on them they are showing some signs of wear. At the rate they are going I'd guestimate them to be worth 25-30k mi maybee. That's better than alot of people claim from them but he has them mounted on the right size rim (15x14) and keeps his air pressure low enough that the entire tread rides flat on the road. It's when you mount them on too small a wheel or run too high of air pressure that they wear REAL quickly.
I've heard alot of good things about the Ground Hawgs as far as milage and mud performance but I don't know about everything else.
Personally, I like the TSL's and have bought another set already because I am happy w/ them. Dollar for dollar you can't hardly beat them. The TSL/SX comes in a 38x14.50 and are a very tough looking tire but if you want larger I'd look at the 40" TSL or the Bogger if your feeling rich.
im with him, im runnin tsl's now and love them im runnin the rear ones bald now too and they still tear it up, try www.tyres1.com for the big tires your lookin for, they also have the best prices ive found.
