factory diesel tachometer question
anyone know if the tach from a diesel truck will work in a non diesel?i found one today and it has color on the high end. it looks better than the standard tach. thanks for reading.

I don't think so, the gas engine tach runs off the coil....diesels don't have a coil.

nope wont work a friend tried it once. he found diesel tach conversion kit on the internet and bought it and it was a fraud

Does't the diesel tach only read to 3500-4000 rpm? The gas tachs go up to 6k IIRC.

you are correct. the tach only showed 4 grand.you have saved me alot of headache.

That would be OK with a 300 six....you're wasting your time and gas going over 4000.
