I'm wanting to see what that little diesel will be like to. If the fuel mileage isn't much better than a gas I don't think it will be worth it to get the diesel.
As for house prices, you can't get all that much anymore for 250G's, depending on location of course. They are starting to come down a little now.
250g for a home isn't unreasonable...3-400g for the same home is. the housing boom won't be over, what will happen is not every tom, dick, and gerry will build a home on speculation like they did this year. this year, every stiff with some extra cash built a house to sell. thats why the regina and s'toon markets are flooded and the prices are comming down. its stupid for people to do that, but thats where greed gets you. in the end, it screws those of us who are depending on the market for a living.
The diesel should do better on fuel that a gas, but with all the emissions crap on the new diesel's I wan't to make sure it's better on fuel before I would by one. Should pull a lot better though, I have heard that all the new diesels '08 and up are just awfull on fuel.
I still have a hard time saying that 250k for a house is a deal. Ive been keeping an eye on building and so far for 250k I could have a 1200 square foot house, with a walk in basement, and geothermal heat, and still have 30k ish left over! I hope your right and the boom doesnt go down, but I have been asking some types that work directly with real estate, and the financial part of it, and they are the people that are saying this stuff, not just some joe blow. I hope they arent right though.
Its kinda funny Marlon, some guys manage to get ok with the new superduties, and most dont. Duncan from raddison said he gets around 20 with his. Now heres the thing. if a super duty can get 20, a half ton should be able to get around 30, and reasonably 25. (30 should be possible but i hear ya about the emissions)
I look at diesels over the years too, and the more power they get the worse on fuel they are. the 7.3 is a little better then the 6.0, the 6.0 is a little better then the 6.4.
I agree with you preppy about the 1/2 ton diesel should get 30 and reasonably 25. The old chevy 6.2's would get 30, but mind you they had no power to pull anything! If this new 1/2 ton diesel will get 25-28mpg, and have the hp and torque numbers they are talking(330hp/450ftlbs torque) I will put my name down for one, provided they are only priced 3-4g's more than the gas! If they are any more than that, I guy might as well get a 3/4 ton. The one dealer here in Regina has a new '08 F250 supercrew 4X4 6.4l for $43,200, not a bad price.

Yes those old 6.2's were great on fuel, but thats about it!
Good point about the price too, never thought of it that way, but a guy would be better off (for the most part) getting a 3/4 ton over a half ton, if the price was near the same.
Not a bad deal at all for that 08. If ya really want to look at some good deals, look at some of the prices down in the states right now. There are some brand new diesels for right around the 30k mark, and not plain jane either.
The woman and I have been pondering going down to the states for a trip and bringing back a new PSD for me, and a new jeep grand cherokee diesel for her.
