strobes in mirrors?

I'm thinking about putting a strobe light in the side mirror light lenses. I haven't taken the mirror apart to see what's inside. Is there enough room inside the mirror and light lense to install a strobe light?

Thanks!

Which model? Pre 08 definately not as they are sealed LED housings. 08+ it might be possible, but I don't think there is enough depth. Plus you would have to lose either the running light or the turn signal to make it work.

I know a guy who installed some LEDs on his pre 08 towing mirrors. Was a PITA and took a lot of work to make it look right. The 08 style towing mirrors have more of a flat surface to mount something.

well darn, i thought that would be a great place to put some lights to get some side coverage. I have plenty of light front and back but from the side is very lacking. I guess I'll look for more options! Thanks for the replies!

About the only thing you can do is to install a Whelen TIR 3 or equivalent using the flush mount. There is not enough clearance to do much else. Sorry.

Whelen TIR 3 or LIN 3 is definetly the way to go. I think they run $50-$60 each. I have seven of them on my HD Road King.

thanks for the suggestions but I don't want anything that mounts to the outside of the mirror since I really suck at things like that. I can wire anything but mount a light on the outside to look good, forget it. It's too bad the led's are sealed light assemblies as that would be a perfect place for a strobe head.

Just a thought, but maybe you could get some sort of cab light, ( such as the Recon 264146BK ) and mount the strobe inside it. Then mount it on the back of the mirror? I wonder how it might fit. Pics of the Recon lights at https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...k-warning.html

I don't think that would look good at all. Would be better off installing a linear LED in place.

You mean Ike. Yeah I forgot about that. I'll ask some of the regulars there what the status is.
