I've finally managed to get rid of my flatbed (friend took it last night). Unfortunately, no pics right now (damn camera doesn't work).
Anyways, I was a bit confused about the rear end, maybe because I haven't looked at that many without the beds on. Other than the regular springs, I have four shocks on the axle - two facing forward, two facing rearward, on opposite sides of the axle. Was this a standard configuration for all trucks these years, or just certain models? Or is it aftermarket? I'm trying to identify more accurately what truck I have.
I thought for sure it was a PO addon-but the frame brackets both have factory looking rivets!! Every ol dentside that I remember has the shocks forward..
Looks like a good ol workhorse of a truck though, love the springpacks, hehe!
***Uh, gotta say-how many threads of the rear U-bolts actually holding??? It must work-still looks scary.
I can count how many leafs when I get home, and same with the U-Bolts (never noticed those, I'll have to upgrade them). I'll try to get better shocks of the brackets, but my camera eats batteries.
Maybe NumberDummy can tell me what this looks like? What it looks closest to? I'd like to figure out how much weight it could handle with four rear shocks and those leaf springs, and what numbers I'll need to get replacements (for the springs and shocks).
Well the shocks just take up the bumps in the road and keep it from bouncin forever. I would thik ya could haul quite a bit with that daulie rear and all them leaf packs. Maybe a couple 1 ton bales of hay.
that looks good are you taking the cab off and restorin everything? ive gotten alot done on my f350 its compleatly apart haha just havent been able to take more pics. good luck
I'm doing a ground up restore. Obviously not a 2k point inspection restore, or a stock restore, but I'll be doing lots of body work, as well as rebuilding most major parts (engine, transfer case, tranny, axles).
My biggest things, other than some decent performance upgrades, will be putting state of the art electronics inside and doing a show quality body job.
