I am replacing front end under the 66 F-250 with one from a 73 F-250 with disc brakes. The 66 had a elongated washer under the spring seat on the left side only. It appeared to be a shim between the spring seat and the radius arm. This part is pictured in some parts catalogs and not in others. What is this part? Why only one on the 66? Did they not use them on the 73? I have worked on Ford trucks forever and don't remember seeing this part before.
No pic shows up, BUT if it is what it sounds like, these were indeed shims which were used on an 'as needed' basis. My guess it has something to do with the front end alignment.
