Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's

Does anyone out there have any experience with these tires? Apparently the "new" MT Radials are much improved over previous designs. I've heard several different opinions on them. Most are very positive, including the research I've done on the internet.
However, I've had a few people tell me that they are overpriced, extrememly stiff riding due to the 3 ply sidewall, and very noisy on road.
Goodyear claims and I've had dealers and the internet back it up, that the tires are the best tire made for gravel and off road travel, are long lasting, and due to "directional tread design" are remarkably quiet on the road.

So any real world experience with these tires that you guys can supply is greatly appreciated before I spring for the nearly $300 a tire that these things go for in Canada.

Thanks much,

Waxy

A friend of mine has 25,000 miles on a set of 35x12.50x16s and they are awesome!! We have been on some very long trips and for a tire this aggressive they are amazingly quiet on the highway and around town.

They were a bit pricey when he bought them, but they have worn great and are absolutely amazing in any offroad situation.

They are a little hard to stop on a 1/2 ton truck but are a good looking and riding tire.

He has his mounted on a 97 Z71 w/ 6" lift
