F150 Tires

Alright this might sound stupid to some but im new at this and am kinda lost. The hole tire sizing confuses me. I have 235/75-15 on a 1990 f150 4x4 right now and am getting a 3inch bodylift. what size tire would fit this with out much rub or haveing to trim finders. Im lookin at gooyear wrangler/mt or Bridgestone dueler m/t D673. thinkin 33s or would 35 fit and what exactly do the other #s mean. any kinda help would be appreceated.

I would go with 33s at most. They shouldnt rub on the fenders, probably will on the radius arms and maybe the front bumper.

i would go with 33's and get some new wheels with about 4" of back spacing on them, that way they wont rub on the radius arms.

I would agree with the last two posts, you could probably go more but then you will just run into trouble. What size rims are you running as of now? If they are stock they will be a 15x7 and if you get a 33x12.5x15 (12.5 being the width of the tire) then you will want to get a bigger rim, atleast a 15x8. The backspacing will make the tires stick out farth which is good because they won't rub on the radius arm. If you have any trouble with the metric sizing go to this website:

Good Luck

you can go with the 33's the 35's you will have to wait until you get alittle bigger suspension lift also check to see if there is already a steering stabilizer on the front of the truck if not you will want to get a single tube steering stabilizer this will cut down on bump steer and wear and tear on your tie rod ends. As per your question what do the numbers 33 &35 mean ? well that is basically know as tire hieght if you measure from the ground to the top of the tire it should be roughly close to the #33 for 33 " tires or 35 for 35" tires
actual size will most likely be under those numbers like a 33" tire alot of times will measure just over 32"s tall manufactures just round the size off to the nearest whole inch. Hope this answered your question for you.

I have stock 15x7's on my 86 F150 and I am running 31x10.5's and they rub on the radius arm quite a bit. As for the Steering Stabilizer I suggest that as well. Even with 31's it makes a difference. For Rims look in a local buy and sell if you have one.

F150 Tires

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Mar-02 AT 03:59 AM (EST)]Check National Tire for a decent deal and package price comparison. They show a 15x8 wheel, 33x12.5r15 tire package with a general MT tire for about $586.

http://www.natltire.com/ntw0799/pages/package1.html

I have to say that I've had good luck with the generic or house brand tires. I can't personally reccomend paying the difference for a big brand name. I'm running 315/75r16 (35x12.5r16)Discount Tires Pathfinder (A Kelley tire, I believe), looks good and has plenty of tread left after about 30,000 miles. They were about $60 per tire less than any anything else I could find. I paid about $125 apiece. See gallery for Pics. I'm actually running the same brand on my '69, just a bit smaller, 255/70r16.
