Which blackouts work best?

I got a big, beautiful, black '98, on which I recently installed a billet grill. Now I want to set it off with blackouts, but I'm concerned that they will dim my headlights too much. I have amber foglights, but they are short range and won't provide adequate driving light. I've heard that the carbon-fiber blackouts allow more light thru than the regular smoke blackouts. Does anyone have any experience with either, or both?

I have the regular smoked plastic ones from aXs... All I can say is that I wouldnt want to get in an accident with them on. I would say that they could use the exuse "Well I couldn't see his turn signal indicator because of the blackouts", and I think they would get away with it.. I used to have mine on all the time, but took them off when it started to become a safety hazzard.

Good Point. I had only thought of it from a ticket point of view. That's why I wanted to find out if the carbon-fiber type would allow a little more light through. Thanks for the input.
