Just a thought, but if it were me I would remove the engine, and re build it yourself, good time for new cams and some upgrades. New pistons, oil pump, bearings. And you will know its done right and has good parts installed.

Sounds like a fun project! I would like to do that for fun some time (as long as somebody else foots the bill!)

Just to update, I removed the drivers side head last night to check things out. Everything looks good. No piston damage, and the engine is clean inside. The plan at this time is to find a head and put it back together. Anybody have a spare V-10 head laying around? Drivers side.

Make sure your oil pump is working and all the passages are clear before you put it back together. Sounds like a great project! Wish I could score something like that...
