it has a miss and I figure with over 100K on the odometer I'd be a few steps ahead by just changing out all of them.....................Thanks for all the info you all have been a great help!!
Wow, thats like $450 you are "throwing away". It's only one bolt and a plug that holds the COP on the plug. Last time I had a COP go bad(intermittently without CEL) I performed my swapping of COPs and found it on the last swap. The whole process took me an hour and a half.
I still say just unplug em one at a time with teh engine running. Very noticable when you drop a cylinder from this. When it doesnt change the idle is when you found your bad coil. Your only unplugging for a couple seconds max so this hurts absoluyely nothing. Done this on a bunch of ford modulars and worked like a charm every time.
I have what I believe is an ignition miss but it happens only when it is raining outside. Could it be just a bad wire? Maybe I could find it by misting water at the coils and wires one at a time.

See if you have water build up near the PCM just below the windshield on the passenger side.
How do you know when a COP goes out or is going bad? What are the symptoms? Our Ex will run rough when we get to a red light. It just started this and it isn't that bad right now. It is just annoying. Could it be a COP trying to go out?
I would pull the coils and have a look also at the rubber boots that are under the coils. They are known to dry out and crack and not let the power get to the plug. While the boots are out you might want to use compressed air to blow out the plug holes.

Do you get a rough idle all the time? If so it could be your IAC.

No. It doesn't idle rough all the time. Seems like it has to warm up good. After we have traveled a ways, then come to a stop sign or red light, it may do it.
Sorry, just a new owner, trying get a heads up. Thanks.
CEL = Check Engine Light. Also known as SES light.
SES = Service Engine Soon light
PCM = Powertrain Control Module. The brain of the engine.
This is what gets overwritten when someone installs custom tunes via a handheld flash tuner, like a Predator or SCT Xcal 2, via the OBD II port. This is also where chips with custom tunes are installed, overriding the factory tuning.
IAC = Idle Air Control valve. Controls engine idle speed.
