i put a new cam in my newer engine, its a 94 and the enging im replacing is an 88 with 330,000km. so i dont want to use my old dist. on my new cam. my main question is, what if any performance dist. is available, and second the 88 and 94 have different distributors, has aneyone used an older dist. in a newer engine?
A performance distributor is a waste of money on a TFI engine because the only thing the distributor does is indicate TDC and send spark to the right plug. As long as the stocker is in good shape just stick with it.
The 88 and 94 distributors are almost identical, the only real difference is that the 94 uses a remote mounted ignition module and the 88 has it mounted directly to the distributor. Use whichever distributor the wiring in the truck matches and you'll be fine.
