This probably doesn't fit in the 6.0 forum, other than that's where I spend most of my time...
My local Ford Dealer closed it's doors and shut it's business down today. I've been taking my Fords there for dealer related work since I moved to the area. The service writer I went to always, was probably the best I've had at any major's dealership. They had good diesel techs there and worked on both my last 2 Ford diesels -- and the next closest dealer is sux for service and sales too.
It's a sad day for those folks that worked there and the customers that appreciated them...
I know it's a bad economy, and there is bad news everyday, but this truly bums me out...
Same happened to me about six months ago. Local dealer in my county with the best techs and the awesome service writer who didnt mind modifications as long as they were on the mild side closed up shop. Luckily, i found another on with great techs and service writers who will work with you, but they are 45 miles away.
Big GM dealer here in Atlanta closed all four dealerships today plus five more in other states. Article said GMAC stopped loaning them money last month, and that the dealerships had been accused of deceptive business practices That's a shocker!
Tough business to be in right now.
Dealerships...mostly domestic...are closing every day. In Western Massachusetts...we've lost 3 Ford stores in the last 3 months...probably more to come. There have also been 3 Lincoln Mercury stores that have shut the doors. Some of the stores are long established ones...an indication of just how difficult the times are.
In many cases..the sad truth is...that the dirt the stores stand on is worth far more than the dealership is.
