This could be the start of a huge argument. I prefer my BFG mud terrain KM's. I think that they are one of the best all around tires you can buy. All terrains you sacrifice off road ability and they clog easier, swampers you sacrifice streetability....Go BFG..
Does any body make a tire that TRUELY works great in all these conditions? I would think you would have to pick wich condition you will be driving in most and go with a tire that preforms best in that condition and sacrafice a bit in the others.
I run a BFG MT in the summer, and a "stock" type all season goodyear in the winter to plow snow, I live in Buffalo so I PLOW SNOW.
You want something good for all conditions? This is the holy grail of all four-wheelers. The best thing in my opinion would be to get a set of agressive off-road tires such as BFG muds, swampers, or ground Hawgs and then have them siped. The siping will increase icy and wet weather traction by a wide margin, but will also increase tire wear. The siping will even help off-road too. The siping cuts little tiny grooves all over in the tread. If you have ever looked at a good snow tire will see alot of little tiny cuts (grooves, whatever) in the tire. Belle Tire and a few other stores offer this service when you buy tires from em. Good luck, and happy hunting.
Well I can't say I'll be too much help cause I don't know a lot about the tires but I do know what we sold when I worked at a tire shop in Alaska. And in the area we were the tire everyone wanted was just that...a great tire for ice, snow, mud, off road use, and still good highway handling. The tire of choice was always a Toyo tire or BFG mud terrains. But most people would be going with the Toyos cause they lasted longer all around cause of the rubber technology. I honestly don't remember which particular model it was that we sold. Hope this helps out. Goodluck.
i too would have to go with BFG if you dont 4wheel a lot, if you do i would go with super swamper. the BFG's are good all around the only thing that they have on super swamper is mileage, but that doesnt matter to me.
Have you ever thought about a set of general Grabber m/t?I had a set on my old 79 and they did real good in the mud, snow, and ice plus there cheaper than the bfg.just a suggestion

I second that on the Grabber M/Ts... I have been running mine for 8 months and have just under 25,000 miles on them and they have been GREAT both on and off road. I am going to get them sipped here shortly to help in the rain and ice, but they have performed GREAT in the sno, mud, rock and pavement.
If i had my choice of an all around tire....i'd put Toyo M55's on my rig all the way around. They are THE best all around tires you can buy, aside from being on the expensive side! A friend has a set on his '87 f-250 diesel, and has gotten 70k from his set of M55s...no rotations.
However, being as i'm a broke college student(Eastern Oregon University, La Grande, Oregon), i had to settle for a set of 31x10.50 Wildcat Radial LTs, which i have been pleased with to date....first time i took them mudding, tehy didn't slip around and flung plenty of mud up top!
Sorry for the long post...hth
I ran BFG M/T's on my Old Truck for 35,000mi and they were shot and now i have over 50,000mi on these Pro-Comp M/T's and they look like they will last for about 7-10,000 more miles,Plus they Cost less and have a better grip because of a Wider tread void,There the better choice. My neighbor had the same problem and switched to Pro-Comp and have had really good luck, and everyone on the trails say the same.
They way I learned it is that grooving causes the tread to wear faster but traction is increased. Siping helps with wet and icy conditions, and siping helps dissipate heat so the tread lasts longer.
