i know this may be stupid, but is there such a thing as a quiet mud tire. i have heard that buckshot mudders are quiet. can anyone help? has anyone had buckshot's on their 4x4?
to me BFG muds are quiet, i have a friend whos runnin them and you cant hear or feel them at all. im runnin tsl's though so pretty much anything except boggers are quiet to me.
I have the bridgestone muds and one of the main reasons I bought then is they are very quiet. They are supposed to have a new technology in the tire that makes them quiet. I don't know if that is actually why they are quiet or not. Check out tirerack.com. They have an excellent review on the Bridgestones and other tires. If I wouldn't have bought these bridgestones I would have probably went with the BFG A/T simply because I really don't need a mud tire but they sure do look good! I havn't done enough off road driving to know how they compare to other M/T rated tires, but on road they are slightly quieter and handle better than the BFG M/T that a few of my friends run. The BFG's are still a great tire, alot of people run them. If price is not ANY concern I would take a good look at the parnelli Jones Dirt Grip. They are starting to get up there in the agressiveness department though. I have never seen them in person, or heard of anyone in my area that has used them, but from what others have said they are even more aggressive than a M/T and alot quieter. Even if they were just "AS" quiet it would be great. They are also about one of the most expensive tires i have ever seen!
I've heard really good things about the new swamper trx's. Their supposed to be near silent on the road and still have good off road ability, not to mention they just plain look cool The best part is that they really aren't that much more than a BFG. Check them out at www.ntwonline.com
in my opinion if u are looking for an agressive mud tire that isnt loud then u are crazy. the more agresive the tread the more loud its gonna be. if you want quiet then go with a plain mud tire like bfg or pro comp. but if you want performance for your money go with the best of em all super swamper bogger or tsl. they will far out perform anything else out on the market.

I have always been a BFG fan until my most recent purchase of Pro Comps. I am really impressed, so much so, that I will never go back to BFG. I did however get the AT tire. The mud or X version of Pro Comp are on my wish list. I believe they are a good tire and quiet.
My point exactly! Every BFG person (my former self included) has to justify the purchase of BFG's by saying "they're not that expensive". Well Pro Comp makes as good or better tire and they are cheaper than BFG's. So save some money and get a better tire.
the pro comp tires arent better than the BFG's, BFG's have a 3ply design so they can withstand a lot of punishment and the pro comps only have a 2ply design. that and i believe you pay for what you get.
im not a pro comp fan though, they copy every bodies ideas (look at their tires and shocks) so that kinda turned me away from them.
