I know this comes up from time to time. Forgive me for not using a search.
I can get a 1974 F100 with a 352W and C6 locally. What would be the biggest problem with using this for my 1954 F100? He's asking a little much just to have the motor and transmission.
Your question is not clear? Do you want to take the entire frame and drivetrain and put it under your 54? or..... just use the engine and transmission? You stated it has a 352W? are you sure it's not a 351W? To switch the engine and transmission is not that big of deal. You'll have to buy a V8 conversion kit for your truck and then simply drop the engine and transmission in. You'll have do something with your driveshaft also. If you don't know much about fabrication work, welding, etc. I'd have a professional set up the engine compartment and transmission for you. Putting the drivetrain and entire frame from a 74 truck under your truck will require some serious modification, but it can be done.
I've been looking to install a later model engine in my 54 for some time. I'm notorious for the "while I'm at it" syndrome. I have a good source for engines locally, I just wondered if this was simple or much more complicated that just mounting my body.
And yes it is a 351W. I didn't quite reach the 1 button. I have a 5.0 HO that I can get, but I wonder if that wouldn't look stupid sitting on top of a straight axle.
There are several people in here who have later model engines under the hood of their trucks. Unless your frame is shot or your convinced you need a different frame, I'd look at some of the V8 conversions kits out there. Go to midfifties.com. They have kits that are very easy to install on your frame. No offense! but the 5.0 H.O. would look nice sitting on top of a straightaxle. Hey, that's what I have????? LOL....

Is that an older HO that was carberated, or did you remove the fuel injection off a later model? The one I'm after is in a 93 Cougar.

I just rebuilt this engine. The block is a 5.0 from a 90 Mustang. Yes it was fuel injected but I chose to use carburetion. The heads are 351W heads from a 1969 car. I went with carburetion because I didn't want to mess all the electrical involved plus the fuel lines that need to be run.
