Some buck knives are now made in China also. I had to check around before I found my American made one. You can really tell the quality difference between them! Chinese crap!
hey, Jay. I was looking at a new KA-BAR. Did you know that they are now made in China!! Need to look for a new US made knife.
I never did care much for K-bars.Thats what they trained us on, but they always seemed kind of, well... puny. I like SOG and Kershaw. SOG as you know makes a series of knives that SEALS tested and "approved". They are pretty good. But the emphasis nowadays seems to be on making things lighter. Personally I think when it comes to a tool such as a combat knife, it needs to be heavier.
Bleh! you don't want me to get into all of that.
Suffice to say that K-bars need to be manufactured here to be real K-Bars.
I had to deal with the Chinese knife issue when I had to get another pocket knife. I use the bajeezus out of a pocket knife, so I didn't want a cheap peice of crap. Ended up getting a Buck, but didn't realize the one I bought had been made in China. It was a peice of garbage. Got a real Buck at Cabellas, and it's a much nicer knife.

I carry a leatherman most of the time. Has the "made is usa" stamp on it. I always look for US made products.
I like to have my knife blade readily accessible and easy to open. I have yet to find a law enforcement officer that would buy me an "automatic" but the SOG line of semis are extremely nice. I have these in my collection:
Like I said before, Kershaw is nice as well:
Steve, that is a very nice knife. I have the larger version that was discontinued called the Tigershark.
By the way Pat, I don't nibble. I feel that nibbling except on very rare occasions is just not getting the job done. Ken, shots are over rated. I got poked enough when I was active that, I will not get any more shots, so people will just have to take their chances.
