Yes , A few years ago I work with a towing company in canada that 5 of their wrecker were on propane. But propane prices got high and switch to desiel trucks. It is finiky if it not set right and if don't have good filling stations around its a pain. The kit you bought is it a newer style or older one.

Well,
I don't think it's newer.....
It's an Impco 425, and Model E 2 stage converter. I also got the VFF30 filter, a solenoid operated gasoline valve for switching, and a 35 gallon tank. The tank has a date manufacture date of 1981 so I may have to get it re-certified (if that's even possible) It's not severely rusty and the valves and fittings are still in good shape. It's even got a fuel gage sender installed......I don't know if it's any good.....All for $240 Kits are available online for about $900 with most of the components I got (minus tank of course)
I see motor fuel tanks on craigslist all the time.
The previous owner told me that he bought a rebuild kit for the 425 and converter and replaced all the gaskets and diaphrams. rebuild kits don't seem to be very expensive.
When I had my 292 I had the shop do valves/ hard seats for propane so I could do it in the future if I wanted. He said that seats and valves for unleaded would be fine for occasional
propane use.
What type of asperator does it have ,total carb insallation or top of air breather type using your carb or can you use both gas or propane. Roy
It's the type that bolts to the top of the carb. and it came with the solenoid operated gasoline valve so you can turn off the gas and just use propane. I guess doing that you have to wait until the carb empties out......must run really rich when that happens huh?
Yes thier should be a three way switch with it that shows propane and gas. Switchng from propane to gas you can switch right over but gas to propane wait for it to heisitate by switching to the center before switching to propane. Does it have a vacum propane shut off for the propane. I think if I remeber the filter is also the fuel shut off for the propane. It sound alot like the ones that were used on the wreckers that we had. Or is their two selonoids on the propane converter that changes the liquid to a vapour.
