overdrive wire harness worn through

Ive been having trouble with my overdrive on my 2002 superduty (automatic). I remember reading an article on here, about the wire harnesses wearing through. Mine is worn in 3 spots. 2 places next to the metal on the seering column, and the other bad spot is where the harness goes up in the shift lever. Now I get to go buy a new lever assembly at a FORD dealer. That makes me sooo happy.

Isn't the harness separate of the lever? I didn't know you had to buy the whole lever.

The Ford dealer told me it was all one kit (lever, harness, on/off button etc).
He said it is going to set me back about 60.00.

Well that's not all that bad. Try ftepartsguy.com and see if he can beat that.

I would add some extra electrical tape or something for those problem areas on the harness.

Only like 40 or so for the whole lever from ftepartsguy. Just bought one 2 weeks ago.

I had to buy another lever because the wires broke, its an easy change.
