Cool questions. :)

I never bothered to measure that stuff, was only concerned with the
"wire size" when messing with my springs.

I got the thickest ones I could find. :)

It's a Ford. :/
The stiffest ones they made are still kinda mushy. :)

That's the left side spring, it's a little lighter than the right side spring.
It theory I guess it's a good idea but in practice it ain't! :/

I replaced that spring with one from the wrecking yard that had the same
wire size as the right side and straightened my pickup right up, for the first
time since it was new! :)

YMMV :)

Like my 3/4" gasoline hose idea? ;)

Everyone that rides in my pickup comments on how great it rides.

Of course, 322 lbs of lead and hardware helped too. ;)

Ford springs were ID'd by color band(s) as original, the problem today is, many of these color bands have worn off.

F100/150's offered at least 10 different load rates, the lightest load rates would be for 240's (1973/74), 300's or 302's without P/S or A/C.

All the F100/150 springs interchange, and the heavier load rates were the same front springs as F250's with a GVWR of 6200 lbs. used.

The length and the O.D. isn't listed in the parts catalog, but the wire thickness is. I'll type the info when I get home this afternoon.

You cannot go by the overall length of used springs, because the springs sag from usage.

Fact: The heavier the spring is, the shorter it is.
