Shouldn't really need a front end alignment unless you hit a curb/big pot hole and knock it outa alignment. I have gone the life of the tires without a alignment just fine... no uneven wear or anything. I just don't let the wifey drive my truck and hit curbs!!! Usually get it aligned when buying new tires though...
I have a habit of getting alignments just to keep things right.... plus I take my truck offroad so I normally knock things out of whack at least once a year.
What I've recently learned is that almost all shops will just do nothing more than a simple toe alignment on our trucks. What happens is if the caster and camber are also off, then the toe alignment never seems just right, and you always need adjustments to the toe more often than normal.
Go to a really good alignment shop and have them check the caster and camber as well. If those need adjustment, it's going to be much more expensive. However, it will fix a lot of issues with driveability. Mine drives like a completely different truck after I had that done.
got my truck with 145k on it..now just turned 190k...never had front end aligned and my tire wear even all way around..I do rotate every 5 to 8,000 miles and i also run nitrous not air...
