First hurdle would be the 4v head vs the 2v head in the F150.

what?

F-150 4.6 is a 2v head
09+ F-150 will have a 2v and 3v 4.6 available.

look into the 2000-2004 Mustang 4.6 2v motor. It's virtually identical (in not 100%, they make same power/tq).

I bought my '00 mustang with stage 3 cams (upgraded lifters, rockers, valve seat, along with other goodies) and i'm pulling 12's on the 1/4 mile ALL MOTOR on street tires (not drag radials) people think I have the cobra 4V and dont beleve me when I say its the factory 2V.

Many will say in the mustang community that you are better off cost wise installing a blower rather that doing internal engine work on the 2V 4.6 and I agree with them. The money you save from labor alone since installing a centrifugal supercharger is something most can do themselves and you can get the kit for about $2700.00.

Also anything past stage 1 aftermarket cams will need more in depth to installing since they require upgrading the lifters and so on. And a stage 1 cam will only give you a upgraded exhaust note with little added torque which is what these 2V 4.6 lack in.

IMO with the 4.6 in a truck like the F150, any serious money spent on go fast mods would be better spent trading in for a 5.4 to start with.

Just my opinion.
