I added a leaf in the front (F250) as a cheap way to give a couple of inches for larger tires. Worked great. However, the ride is very uncomfortable. Any suggestions on how to lift the front without spending a lot of money and get a smoother ride?
Is it shackle flip or reversal... I cant remember but either way which ever it is, will net you around 4" of lift... You can ditch that dumb add a leaf...
UTfball: i know what your saying, but if you have ever ridden in a truck with 1 or more add a leaf's its a very bad ride, much worse than your average truck... MUCH worse.
I still say ditch the add a leaf and do the shackle reversal...
Lift springs can be tricky, and you really get what you pay for when it comes to quality springs.
AAL's are known for cheap and convenient methods for lifting trucks, but the drawback is the crazy amount of resistance (rate) that must be added to obtain the desired lift.
The end result is a poor riding truck.
A high quality progressive rate spring will fix all of the problems, and you will have a comfortable ride.
I do not buy into the trucks should ride like truck concept, because they do not.
They can ride great. With spring technologies providing us with better and better leaf packs, thet time has never been better to upgrade old springs with some new tech.
This however costs a few bucks, but when broken down by how long a spring can last (look at your original units) and spread this investment out, you will see that it breaks down to pennies over that period of time.
Settle for a poor ride, or shell out a little cash for a proper lift with great flex, and a much better ride.
ive got a great idea! i think im gunna try and make some kind of poly leafs for my truck! Ive got all these wrappers that bacon comes in and i thought why not melt it down, and form it into a poly leaf spring? im a genious i know! I could have the best of both worlds!
