Diagnostic port

My truck has been running strange, at first it would lose power and just sit there and idle for a few seconds with the check engine light on, then run normally, now it quit all that crap, but it has absolutely no pull, it won't get up and go until about 50 mph, then it just takes off all at once??????? I went have it plugged in, the computer wouldn't read anything. The man said something was wrong with my diagnostic port. What would cause this? Can it be fixed easily, or will it have to go to Ford.

Gotta be sure the scanner is compatible with a diesel.
There is a step by step procedure for a dead OBD2 port.
I'll see if I can find it.

I wonder if the EBPV is acting up. Unplug it and/or wire it open. See if that helps any.

EBPV?????? Can you put that in english for those of us who don't speak powerstroke? Please note that while I can fix anything on an old 7.3 or 6.9 IDI, I know absolutely nothing about a Powerstroke. The lighter plug works.

ebpv exhaust back pressure valve its right behind the turbo inline on the exhaust. also not all scanners will work with the 7.3 you have to make sure you have one that is compatible
