I was able to purchase a 1979 F150 Custom really cheap. After getting it home I noticed that the 4x4 shift on the floor was wobbling. I opened up the floor panel and found that it is connected but not really working? Is this easy to fix? where would I go to find out informtion on putting this back together? Any suggestions?
Would suggest a trans shop take a look at it if you have never broken down a trans or t-case....like me! haha.....anyway....hope you get it working...i would help if i could see it!

It could just be the plastic bushings they put in the liinkage that go bad over time especially in climates where you have snow the road salt deteriorates them over time. with these bushings worn out it can make a transfer case hard to shift. If you are getting the transfer case in gear and it is not moving the front driveshaft well then you might be looking at a rebuild on the transfer case
