Three years ago I removed the old window channel felts and fuzzies from my '50 F-1 thinking that I would buy a complete new kit when the time came to install new ones. Well, the time is here and Dennis Carpenter tells me the clips for the window channel are not provided, only the ones for the fuzzies. Great I say....what do I do now? Does anyone know what types of clips I need and where can I get them? I have slept since I ripped the old ones out and I can't even remember what they look like.
Are you talking about the channel that runs around the perimeter of the Window opening in the door? If I remember correctly that was just held in with some small flathead wood screws...
Yes, that is the one. On the Dennis Carpenter kit it is basically a hard rubber "U" channel. D.C. tech support said to use the original clips but I don't see how they would work on this channel. There are about three supports inside the upper door frame and it seems to me that screws or some type of fastner such as contact cement would work fine. Too bad I can't remember the exact arrangement of the original channel but I did remove it 3 years ago and have slept since then.
52Merc is correct; only the felts use clips, the channel is held in with screws. Cement wouldn't work, the places the screw go into are just little brackets.
I took mine to a glass shop that has been around forever and works on old stuff.
Had them put in the U channel and the fuzzies. Also mounted the glass in the lift channels. Everything came out real well and the windows work very well. I furnished all the glass and the rest of the parts. Took 2 men about 6 hours and cost $180. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

$15 an hour?! Where is this shop?! I'll be right over!
The worst part of the job is putting those clips on the felt. They have to be exactly where the holes are, or they just won't go. I don't for the life of me know why they don't put them on with a jig at the factory.
