I`ve been away for afew hours and see that Corner Gas was the last one to post here at 6.34 tonite.
Since this is a bit unusual I`m wondering if this site was down for a while tonite or everyone is enjoying this last bit of very fine weather like I am.
The whole FTE site seems really slow tonite.
How`s things looking for birds Sherm?
Get any coyotes Sheldon?
If you run out we have tons of `em here so don`t be shy about asking for permission to hunt here.
Well, coyotes are pretty crafty animals, and by the time i drove out to where they were howling, they had already took off. By the time they started to howl it was getting pretty dark out for shooting too, so I swept the field and was gonn arun em over with the psd.
Seen 3 really nice huge mule bucks and a bunch of doe's, but no 'yotes.
Ill figure out how to get em yet though, then I will come out your way and hunt some up too.
Coyotes usually stay well hidden till after dark when they start the hunt for their food.......
I used to see one or two during the day but never lately. I know we have a bunch of them from all the noise they make in the late evenings.
I guess winter is the best time to look for them by following their tracks to see where they hang around.
Yeah I dont really know how else to track them b@st@rds. I have seen a couple of them way out on our second quarter awhile back, and I tried to chase em down with the f150, but it kept on spinning and I just couldnt quite catch them before they ran into the bush.
I dont know how they are out your way, but out here they need to be controlled a little, there seems like alot of them.
Oh I disagree with ya there! I just about had a few of them with my ol f150, and I woulda had them if I had 4x4 in there. Now when i go I take the diesel and engage the 4x4. If I see one, hes got no chance.
I know its a little unethical, but they need to be thinned out around here. Especially if you see them in the daytime, they can be a potentially dangerous animal.
At night I chase em down if they get close to the yard, only happened twice so far.
Around Coonsay we've had Cougars, Wild Boars Coyotes and everything inbetween. If they are getting too close for comfort best kill them now rather then wait for something VERY bad to happen.I do enjoy nature and animals but some animals just should be thinned out.
Sadly it`s too bad we`re crowding out their territory though........
I leave nature`s creatures alone except when, like you say, if they are getting too close for comfort.
not as good as last year yet... they're comming, but the cold/wet week must have scared them off for a bit and the farmers couldn't get much knocked down so they had no where to go. we watched maybe 1-2 thousand mixed snow/canada's go over to their nightly slough.
i've had good chance at 4 coyote in the morning where i go sit to watch birds but i keep forgetting my rifle. shotgun don't quite have the range.
