IF my memory serves me, Blow buy is cause by the rings, this could be caused by egg shape cylinders, busted ring, ect..So, If I was able to pick up a motor with blow by, would it be worth the time to rebuid. Next, I have not heard anyone here talk about boring a cylinder in the 7.3, so do you resleave these things, or what would be the standard repair??
Blowby is mostly caused by the rings and also a very small part by the valve guides.

Given the track record cracked blocks next to the freeze plug and along the top of the oil pan, I think it is best to just go by a new block.
Those new crate engines don't do much for me because I think they have PMR's.
Or buy a crate engine and swap out the rods before you even install the engine in the truck.
All those are pretty expensive options, however.
Thanks Dan, I was thinking I could get the block cheap, and work on it over time. But, since Murphy and I have such a long standing realtionship, I thought I should ask.
I got my old block in the garage that might go this route, but its going if it does, its going to be a built bottom end, not stock lol.
The block can be punched out until I think its 30(I think its 30) over before a sleeve. I know if its only needs 10 over to get cleaned up, you will not need a sleeve.
Its not worth it, unless you want to go built bottom end to do the work yourself really. There is a place in Texas that is a motor exchange, you sent your motor, they send you a rebuilt one, I believe there cost is 2900$ with core. This is a long block though, with heads. IMO
