Downpipe back??

I think I'm going to cut off my existing stocker exhaust system and weld on a 4" straight pipe that turns down under the bed. my ? is....it is muuuuuch easier and cheaper to just get a straight 4" run and go from the down pipe back. will that still be a large improvement over stock or will the stock down pipe still hinder performance and EGT's?

Honestly - the stock downpipe is a lot of the restriction..... I see a tuner in your sig. - so I would say, you would be further ahead to do the downpipe too!

Every section of exhaust is a restriciton. But the exhausts for these trucks are pretty cheap. If you can't afford it chop off the stock exhaust but I'd do a down pipe too if I were you.
