I've got an 05 6.0 that has given me alot of problems. I am considering going back to gas and getting an V10 F350
What I'd like to know is, how reliable are these trucks? How much weight are you guys towing with them? How fast are you driving while towing and how many mpg's are you getting?
My V10 has 131,000 on it and it strong as all get out. Unloaded I get 16 on the highway and about 11-12 in the city. Pulling my 9000 lb fifth wheel I get as high as 12 but sometimes 8-10.
V10-Cheaper fuel, Cheaper oil changes, More quailifed techs. Are local Ford dealer doesn't even work on the 7.3/6.0. You have to go to the Lincoln/Mercury dealer.
The 6.8l is a great motor have had one in the family since 98' and there good experience sold me on a V10 when I bought my 04' MPG is what it is, a heavy truck, large engine mpg isn't going to be great. Best I've ever seen was 15mpg. During the winter with lots of idling and around town driving I have a hard time getting below 10mpg.
Can you expound on what sucks is? For example, my 2005 6.0 only gets 8mpg at 75mpg with 4k trailer hooked to the bumper. Thats my definition of sucks. Oh yea, and it breaks down all the time.

That mpg sounds bad. My V10 would pull around 11mpg liked described.
Be carefull when someone with an earlier 2 valve 10er gives mileage figures. My '08 won't come close to what some are claiming. I get about 11 average running empty. Best tanks that made in the mid to upper 12s were both on the interstate at over 80 mph. Go figure?
I tow a 30' 5er with a small trailer behind it with quads or bikes. Last trip to the mountains was 6.7 mpg. It is a tough run for mileage though. We start at 2600' and climb to over 7000', back down some, etc. Tow at 60-70 mph depending on road, wind....
Iwork out of mine with a utility cap on it. 8500 lbs.. I get about 12 mpg. Towing my 30' tt between jobs, 7-8 mpg. 137000 miles and it doesn't use any oil and runs like new. 03 with the 6 speed.
No reliability issues.
Bone stock 2V version. 140K miles. Big tires, 4" lift (both hurt mpg)
Never drive empty, have high mpg car/bikes for that.
Tow 22' trailer, 6K. Usually with 2 quads on top of bed or 2 bikes in bed, and another bike hanging on rear of trailer. Lots of other weight. At least 8K total.
Cruise at 55-60. Usually involving big mountains (Sierras, Cascades, etc) and on twisty roads so working it hard.
7.5 to 9 mpg.
Reality check: Friends with 7.3 diesels and heavier trailers (maybe another 2-3K) get about 2 to 3 mpg better.
Truck in sig tows a 7200lb. 26' TT with average of 8.2 on the flats, drops to 6.9-7.4 on grades. Seen as high as 16.3 and low as 8.9 unloaded, average 14.7.
I am getting 12-13 combined driving out of my 08 V10 with the deep 4.30s. My father got 12 out of his 04 2V with 3.73s. I would put this truck up against anything... highest quality rig I have ever owned.

They did a great job with the 08s, both in styling and most importantly performance. V10 is as close to bullet proof as you could hope. You may get a bad one but oh boy does that make you unlucky.
