The 6.0 is an extremely good engine when tuned correctly. Unfortunately, Ford overtuned these engines to get into a HP # pissing match. They also dropped the ball on longevity testing and if u ask me....overall testing anything! With the right mods a 6.0 will out run many other diesels. The 6.4 however is shown to be fine. It does show terrible MPG but dodge and GMC/Chevy have the same exact problems because of the new DPF's and current emission standards. The 6.4 is the best pulling engine out there and is EXTREMELY powerful, it has shown no real weakness so far like the 6.0 had. Its actually a very strong, pretty damn reliable engine. I hope you bought low! Ford will see a comeback, with such a strong reputation here and their push towards smaller passenger vehicles with good fuel economy + great quality - this company is doing many things right. I know many dont like the new Flex but its definitely a very cool innovative vehicle! The kind of stuff ford needs to turn it around. With plans to import the European focus and start building their diesels in house in 2010, i think Alan Mulally is steering them in the right direction!

I recently purchased a 05 F250 CCV10 after having a MegaCab cummins and before that a '03 6.0 F250 CC (before that a 460 F250, 351F150, etc.)

Here is the thing, even with 97,000 miles on it, this is literally the smoothest running engine I have EVER had in any truck or even car. I don't know if a v10 is a zero balance crankshaft or what, but this things is dead smooth. Actually uneventful. It seems as smooth as my wifes lexus (cough, camry) ES350.

She likes the new gasser because I don't wake up our son starting it in the mornings.

I am still having a real hard time pushing the revs past 2,000 - 3,000, I just cant get that diesel egg out from under the pedal.

Once I get everything dialed in on this truck I will start feeling confident with the mileage, but for now it is getting right around 11-14 on trips from San Diego to Burbank.

hope that helps.
