351 question

I have heard talk about the earlier 70s 351 windsor (dont know exact year though) having different bolt count on the intake manifolds, is this true? and aftermarket intake (dont know exactly what brand) has less bolt holes than the factory intake. I am trying to find an answer for a person so thats why I ask.He has a aftermarket manifold for going on the engine but the bolt count is different, just wondering would it be alright & not leak?

Yeah, so they could have it mixed up with a modified then? I thought it was kinda weird about the bolt count different in certain year or years of production. So I think now hes got something mixed up now that you mention that.

16 bolts vs. 12 bolts

It's true, the early (1969-early 70s) 351W had 16 intake manifold to head bolts, while the later ones had only 12. Offy used to sell intakes to fit both, and they differentiated the engines by referring to one as a 351W and the other a 351K.

I've got pictures of both intakes, I'll see if I can figure out how to include them here.

Well I can't.

Anyhow, I think you can interchange bolt count components with the correct early or late gaskets, but I don't know the details.
