Another vote for CPS. have your batts and alt tested, even new ones puke sometimes. Check the battery cables for loose connections and wear spots. Last summer while out on the fire engine with I think a DT466 in it, all of a sudden the motor cut out, came right back but was throwing an SES light. We looked all over and finally found a spot where the pos. batt cable had been rubbed through on the springs and was shorting out. The point to my story- check things over closely.
thanks for the help will check cables tonight
I had jumper cables hooked up last night, and the truck acted like it wasnt getting fuel just wouldnt fire up!
I replaced the cps last night, I was able to get the truck to start by pumping the throttle pedal but it was running real rough. sounded like it was skipping. I am going to try testing the batts. I was using jumper cables to start it last night. I fell like the batts or alt. may be the problem. the interior lights aren`t bright enough.
I just went through that with mine. Hard to start. When started had to keep my foot in it to keep it running and sounded like it was missing. It finally wouldn't even start. Replace the IPR and it runs great. Starts good and doesn't miss. Ford want $350, but found a new one on Ebay for $99.

This is a stupid question and I should already know, but what is the IPR?
A Powerstroke engine utilizes an electromagnetic valve to regulate the high pressure oil pressure on the engine
to tailor the injection characteristics of the injectors. This valve is called the Injection Pressure Regulator or
IPR. Actually, Cat and Ford and Navistar all use different names for it, but I call it the IPR.
