I have a problem with my Reverse Sensing system on my 2006 F-250. It quit working. As soon as I shift into reverse, the OFF light illuminates in the switch and will not shut off. If I move the shift select to any other position, I can get the OFF light to extinguish by pressing the RSS switch twice. But as soon as I shift to reverse, it will come back on. Unfortunately the Warranty expired in June, so I'll have to pay out the nose if I take it to Ford.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is?
Not sure what the problem is, but I think most of the issues are caused by faulty sensors.. Have you backed into anything??
They may look fine, but they could have a hair line crack..
My SIL had an issue with them cracked on her Honda MiniVan.. They replaced the sensor and all is well..
There may be a meter check for them, but again I am not sure..
It is a faulty sensor, My truck had the same problem. I dont know how to tell which one is bad because mine was repaired by the dealer under warranty. I would bet you could get one and test it in each position until it works.
Thanks for all of the replies. I decided to take my pickup to the dealership today and let them check it out. They just called and said that the sensor on the right side is bad. They said that it didn't look like it had gotten bumped, so it likely just went bad. I am going to let them replace this one, but if it happens again, I think I am going to change it myself. The Service Advisor that I talked to said the the RSS is very reliable. I sure hope so.
