So every time i get my truck washed my passenger side floor board is wet along the kicker pannel. As i drive it manages to move from right to left and then down and to the right back towards the door. It IS NOT leaking down from ANYWHERE. But where it begins from is not next to the door.
Here a pic with some drawings to show you that it defies gravity!
This is just driving it 5 min. after it getting washed you can see the old water stains and figure out how much water covers my floor board if i drive it alot after washing...
That's an easy one Nolan. You just need to only make high speed left hand turns after leaving the car wash to keep all the water from coming in.
Actually I'd check the weather stripping on the bottom of the door. Do you have any air leaks there? Pull the passenger side kick panel and plastic plate under the door next time you go to the car wash so you can get a better idea of what's going on.
The other option would be to get out the garden hose, and starting at the low point start spraying your truck while someone sits inside and watches for the water to start coming in.
O no. Water getting in, problem.. Eeek. Can be a pain.
I would try a garden hose and just hose the door gaskets. See if it gets in. If not climb in the back of the truck and let the water roll down the front window. See if it gets in. And lastly, hose the plastic around the wipers and see if it gets in. One step at a time. Then you know were to start digging. Or possible debris clogging up a drain under the window or something.
Totally guessing here....put a garden hose on your windshield on the passenger side and I'm wondering if water is leaking from a poor windshield seal and running down the A pillar under the trim and between the door and dash under the trim.....just a WAG...
This sounds to me like you take it to the Car Wash, right? Do they have the undercarriage sprayers? Might be coming in from underneath.
Try spraying the hose straight up the underside.
I had the same issue on my 99 f250SD supercab and found that the leak was in the seam in the metal on the bottom of the back glass. I had to remove the back seat and run the water hose on the back of the cab to locate the leak. I applied RTV (silicone sealant)on the seam inside and out and no more leaks. Good luck
Do you have sat radio, if so where does the reciever wire go out. I had a similar problem and it drove me batty for about two months, untill I noticed that the water was traveling down the wire for my Sirius antennea.
LOL Thanks guys. I am sure it is not a window seal that was the first thing i thought of. I just found it weird how it travels around the floor board. I am going to pull the kicker panel off and see where there is water spots. When i first saw it i thought it was classic heat core! But thats not it. It has to be the door seal or Maybe where the door and fender meet. The other weird thing is is the amount of water that will appear. Like i said earlier if i drive the truck for a decent amount of time after the wash it almost soaks my floor board, but won't be wet until i start driving. So it has to be storing the water somewhere.
Clean out the vents under the glass, I had that problem with my dad's ranger. He'd keep it parked under a tree for weeks at a time and the leaves would get into it. I'd take apart the dash and clean it out every other year. I'd clean out the vent rom the out side too but I couldn't get everything so easily.
The picture "seems" to show the water going uphill. That is not possible unless under pressure. Seems plausible, because the waters path would be hidden from view, the back window may be a source of the problem. Just a thought. Good luck. Let us know.
