how much R134...

would I need to put into my a/c (assuming it was completely empty)?
'96 5.0

There should be a sticker on bar across the front after you raise the hood telling how much goes in it.
Like this one on a 95 that says 2 lb 6 oz.

thanks, but there is no sticker to be found. do you have any idea if it would be the same for a '96 as the '95?
i put two 13oz cans of "sub zero a/c booster" from auto zone, but my a/c clutch still wont stay engaged. though, it stays on longer now, and the air blows real cold.

It should be the same and you put in 16, and should take 38 (16 = 1 lb) so if it was MT and you pumped it down to get the air out so you need to weigh in 38 oz of R134a. Or three cans of what ever it is you put in it.

untill it is ALL the way up to the proper pressure, it wont be good enough to keep the clutch engaged, correct?

Yes and no, if it is cold out it may still cycle once in a while.

hmmm, why would it matter if it was cold out? it wasn't really cold today.
maybe im just being paranoid.. ill have to watch it longer to see if it cycles often
