TT v's 5TH Wheel

Another vote for 5th wheel. I had a TT and did not like towing with it long distances although it was fine for the 50 mile or less trips. The sway drove me batty every time a 18 wheeler passed me on the highway and that was with the weight distribution hitch. Towing the 5th wheel is much more enjoyable and I didn't loose any cargo space. I no longer have as much bed space but the cargo area in my 5th wheel easily doubled the cargo area in my TT.
My pin weight is 1500 lbs, and after loading all the family, cargo (crap) and fuel I am at @ 2200lbs total payload. The airbags were a great addition IMO but I am right @ at the limit for the 3/4 ton. in My opinion 2100 pin weight is heavy for a 3/4 ton. You are already approaching the max cargo capacity and you haven't even added the weight from fuel, passangers and additional cargo.

You would love the fifth wheel! We have an 07 wildcat 33' with a pin weight of 1500 and gross weight just under 11k. It pulls like a dream wouldn't even consider getting a TT. The only time I can really even tell that it's back there is if it get very windy. Fifth wheel all the way........

Assuming that a 'TT' is what we call a caravan with a drawbar hooked to a towbar....
I have towed lots of variations, even slide-ons with a trailer on the back, but there is no way a TT could tow a safely and as stable as a 5th wheeler or goosneck!
Even with weight distribution etc, its just physically impossible to match the 5th wheel!
Thats just my opinion!
Yeah Ron, nice rig, and thats how I'd like to camp one-day!

I've been looking for an affordable trailer and the only thin I find are those TT's. I guess everyone loves their 5'ers too much. Nice trailers everybody. I may end up getting a TT if I can't find any thing else. How do you guys afford your trailers, do you all finance them? I've always tried to be a cash kind of guy. But depends how it goes this year.

I feel the same way, why pay extra? But in this situation we financed it. The kids are only gonna be young for so long and my wife's family gets together every summer to go camping together. We didn't want them to miss out on great memories and experiences.

Why thank you much sir. We shopped and shopped and it was the one we liked the best for the money we had available and it had some pretty good reviews.
Rear door has its benifits, More under awning seating room and a nicer living area, etc. But its one draw back i don't like is when it rains and the wind is just right. We get soaked going in for another beer. When we bought ours we were looking for a middle door. But settled with a rear.
My dads TT is 32+ feet. He likes his. I like his. He has been pulling tt's for a long time. They are nice also. It is what layout you like and and length your looking for. Mine would be 33+ feet long if i had the same layout and all that weight would be on the bumper is which i went 5vr.
